Cave Springs

We had a great day today!!!

After arriving at camp we did a nature scavenger hunt, played alphabet soup and looked for critters in the forest. We found salamanders, inch worms, moths and slugs. After an outdoor picnic lunch we hiked into the forest and up the escarpment to “the cave”.

Adding and Subtracting

The children have been exploring the language needed to understand adding and subtracting.  Understanding the language and vocabulary in math is the key to grasping the concepts. We are doing really well with addition but subtraction seems to be a bit of a mystery so far.

Here are some videos with lots of good math language in them.

It took about 7-8 days in the pupa and the butterflies have started to emerge. It was very exciting to watch as the chrysalis were wiggling around and we auctually got the watch a few as they caught their way out. We still have a few more to come out. Over the weekend the butterflies will strengthen their wings. If there is sunny weather we plan to release the butterflies on Monday

This is a lot of rain we are having!!!!  This afternoon the students tried to create a shelter for their stuffy to protect it from the rain. Check out our creative inventions below

Controlled R

There is a large group in our class that is working on “er” at the end of the words. We are learning that it is usually not just an “r”. Here are some videos about er, ir and ar.
